WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN...?

Here are some possible situations in which you will be called upon to apply your knowledge of FERPA guidelines. These are not easy questions and there are no easy answers. You may want to think first about FERPA guidelines (what you can and cannot release) and then about the resources and services that the University offers (for instance, Student Central) that allow various groups of people to access student information.

Situation 1

A student you know calls you from Spain. She really, really, really needs to know her grades for the past semester so she can know what classes to take next semester. She's really worried about her grade in her chemistry class. What can you do to help this student?
